ATTENTION EXHIBITORS:

The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has issued an equine health alert originating from our area.

On March 23, 2019 a horse in Alameda County was euthanized. It had been displaying neurological signs was confirmed positive for Equine Herpes Virus 1 (EHV-1). The affected facility has been placed in quarantine

As of March 27, 2019 I have spoken to Dr Katie Flynn, CDFA AHB. She has informed me that this is an isolated event, that it is under control and that the affected horse and the involved facility is not involved in showing of any kind.

As of April 6, 2019 the CDFA has released the quarantine on the affected facility and there has been no further reported cases of EHV-1.

Out of an over abundance of caution and due to recent events now occurring in the State of Nevada we will be taking several steps to ensure your horses safety at our show.

We will be instituting a "No Fever Policy"

  • For all horse whether shown or not, you will be required to sign a no fever letter attesting that your horse and other horses from your facility has not displayed signs of EHV-1 for the past 28 days, that your horse does not currently have a fever and is in good health.
  • You will also need to confirm that your horse did not attend and has not had contact with horses that attended the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Stallion Stakes event at the South Point Event Center, Las Vegas Nevada from March 30, 2019 thru April 6, 2019.
  • You will not be allowed to remain on the show grounds if you refuse to sign this letter.
  • Horses showing signs of a fever will be pulled from competition and be required to be removed from the show grounds even if you have signed the no fever letter.
We will be monitoring the CDFA Equine Herpes Virus website and will post any additional information as we get it. You may also want to go to their website at this link

Notice to Exhibitors:
Under California law this is a public event which falls under the mandate of industry funded California's Equine Medication Monitoring Program (EMMP). The intent of the EMMP is to ensure the integrity of public horse shows, competitions and sales through the control of performance and disposition enhancing drugs and permitting limited therapeutic use of drugs at an equine event. For guidance on permitted drugs and medication visit the CDFA EMMP website.
